Malayan Railways (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB)) is the main rail operator in Malaysia, providing the peninsula’s citizens, businesses, and visitors with passenger and freight services.

KTMB operates three principal services on a 1,677km nationwide network: Intercity, including the KTM ETS “Green Train”, which can generate electricity under braking that can be used by other trains on the grid; 248 local commuter services per day; freight forwarding, including the longest single-locomotive cargo train in South East Asia, connecting the country’s ports.

The network’s major lines are the West Coast Line, running from close to the Malaysia-Thailand Border in Perlis to Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore, via KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur, and the East Coast Line, which serves the states of Kelantan and Pahang, crossing deep jungle and terminating at Tumpat on the South China Sea. KTMB are committed to increase links with neighbouring countries and integrate the Malaysian network with the One Belt One Road initiative.

KTMB will be represented at the 7th International Railway Summit by General Manager for Train Operations, Mahendran Suppiah. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry, working his way from train crew, to the Head of KTMB’s Train Control and Command Centre. In his current role, he also drives the transformation agenda, facilitating continuous improvements.

Mr Suppiah will take part in bespoke one-to-one meetings with expert supplier companies, and will also participate in formal and informal networking functions throughout the two-day event.

Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can visit or contact the organisers, IRITS Events.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.

International Railway Summit provides a 'matchmaking' service between rail industry leaders ('buyers') and technical experts, based on buyer delegates' project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.

In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is hosted by IRITS Events. The 5th International Railway Summit will take place on 15-17 November 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the first time the event will be hosted in Asia. The 6th International Railway Summit on 21-23 February 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic.
